Chad’s Road to Recovery at Narconon

This is the testimonial of a student who graduated from the
Narconon gateway drug and alcohol rehab. His gateway drug was alcohol and he continued to have alcohol addiction, while addicted to numerous other drugs at different periods of time. No real names are used to protect the privacy of the people involved.
Chad grew up in large upper class family. He started out life as a high achiever. He made strait A’s for his entire school career, and excelled in many school activities as well. Chad was involved in the drama club in high school, he also worked on the school year book, he was in band, he also swam for his school swim team, and ran track and field. Chad is a good looking blond guy and one could easily see that he grew up the all American golden child from a wealthy family.
Chad’s family held good education in very high regard. Chad and his siblings all went to the best private schools in their area. Chad and his siblings were all raised to be over achievers, and for the most part all the children lived up to this expectation.
CHAD DISCOVERS ALCOHOL
Although Chad did very well in school, and appeared to have a perfect life, he did not always feel completely comfortable in his own skin. He started to steal his parent’s alcohol around the time that he was fourteen or fifteen because he really liked how loose it made him feel. It gave him a fun and free feeling that he really enjoyed.
Although he began to drink at an early age, Chad still put most of his effort is succeeding at school. He continued to do very well, despite his growing love for getting intoxicated. He just looked at the alcohol as a way to help him loosen up and put the stresses of the school week behind him on the weekends. He felt it served this purpose very well.
CHAD GETS INTRODUCED TO COCAINE.
While in high school Chad met a kid who went to the public high school in his neighborhood. They became friends and started drinking together on the weekends. After a while, Chad’s new friend started using cocaine when they were fifteen. Chad’s friend’s older brother was smuggling in cocaine from South America so there was a lot of access to the drug. One weekend while Chad and his friend were hanging out, Chad’s friend offered him some of it. He told Chad that is was really fun and would make him feel really good. Chad accepted the offer and soon added cocaine to his weekend party ritual.
Chad and his new friend started to hang out with his friend’s older brother. The summer after they started using cocaine, they all took a trip down to South America to pick up a load of cocaine to sell in the states. Chad’s parents were naïve and believed Chad when he said that he was going to South America with his friend’s family on vacation. Chad’s friend’s brother made all the arrangements for the trip.
When they got back into the States, Chad and his new friend started selling cocaine for the older brother. They also started using it quite often since it was so readily accessible to them. Chad continued to do and sell cocaine until he was twenty one or two.
CHAD MEETS HIS FUTURE WIFE
In Chad’s senior year of high school, Chad met a girl that he really got along with. They started dating and pretty soon she got pregnant. They were both eighteen at the time and Chad felt he really loved her, so he asked her to marry him. She accepted and two weeks before graduation, they went to the court house and got married. When Chad’s new wife was about two and a half months pregnant, she had a natural miscarriage.
Since they no longer had the burden of an impending child, Chad and his wife both went to college. They both had made very good grades in high school and were both accepted into the same prestigious college. They lived together off campus in a little house about a mile or two down the road from their school.
Once Chad started college he really started to party. Good grades had always been very easy for Chad to obtain and he did pretty well his first few years. After a while his addiction began to get the best of him and his grades started to suffer. Once he noticed this he began to limit his partying to just the weekends.
Chad continued to sell cocaine until he graduated from college. College was the perfect place to find new clientele. He made a lot of money selling cocaine, and he still used it on the weekends.
CHAD AND FRIENDS GET ARRESTED IN SOUTH AMERICA
On run down to South America after Chad graduated college, Chad and his partners got caught buying a very large amount of cocaine. They were arrested and thrown in jail. Chad spent two years in prison in South America. He learned Spanish while there. He would write to his wife every day and she chose to wait for him to get out. After spending two years in jail, the U.S. made an agreement with the country that Chad had been arrested in to trade prisoners. That meant Chad would go back to the U.S. in exchange for someone from that country that had been arrested in America who in turn would be sent back to their country.
When Chad got back to the States he was tried for the same charges that he had been arrested for in the other country in a U.S. court room. Since Chad had not been the partner who had been making the actual deal in South America he had been arrested for only conspiracy to buy a large amount of cocaine. This is not illegal in the U.S. so Chad walked away from the U.S. courtroom a free man. He got no convictions on his record; it was like it had never happened.
