The over use and abuse of alcohol for extended periods of time has the capacity to harm every organ in a person's body including the brain. Alcohol addiction is most commonly described as a person continuing to drink alcohol despite the negative impacts that it has on their health, wealth and family life. Some of The Dangers of Alcohol Addiction

Alcohol addiction can be an all-consuming addiction. It is often a very difficult  and dangerous addiction to overcome. One of the reasons for this is that alcohol is one of the only sociable socially acceptable mind altering and legal substances that people can use. In fact alcohol advertisements can be found almost everywhere and alcohol can be purchased in almost any store where food products are sold. This can make it very difficult for people who are overcoming an addiction to alcohol to stay clean and sober. It may seem to someone who is overcoming an alcohol addiction that there are triggers that make them want to drink everywhere. Most restaurants serve alcohol and many people drink an alcoholic beverages with their dinner. The difference between a person who has an alcoholic addiction to and someone who does not, is that an alcoholic cannot just have a drink with their dinner and stop. Once they start drinking, it is often very difficult for them to stop.

Other people get addicted to drugs because often times they have some problem in their life that they feel unable to deal with or situations that they feel would be unbearable without being high. The one thing that all drug addicts have in common however, is that underlying all the reasons that the person has for continuing to use drugs is the fact that the person really feels that they do not have the ability to live life without drugs. Narconon, Schools and American Citizens Have Reason for Concern

It is becoming more and more usual to hear about people using all types of prescription drugs for all types of disorders. If someone has any type of symptom, it seems the drug companies have come out with a drug that treats it. There are all types of mood disorders that doctors say require a drug to treat, as well as all types of physical ailments that also require a prescription to gain relief. Are people more sickly these days, or are the drug companies encouraging psycho-somatic society? It is hard to say. Perhaps people are not feeling as well because of all the preservatives that are added to our genetically modified diets. Maybe it’s because on average people sleep one and a half hours less a night than people did one hundred years ago and most jobs do not require as much physical exertion as a body needs to feel at optimum health. Whatever the reason, statistics state that prescription drug addiction up 430% in the last decade.

There are many reasons why this static has gotten to be the way that it is. There are more prescription drugs that are physically addicting that are prescribed everyday than every before. This is a real problem and a lot of people do not even realize that the medication that they are taking is physically addictive until they are suffering from withdrawal.

 This is the story of a girl we will call Brandy. Brandy is not her real name but one used to protect her identity. Brandy grew up in is well-to-do family with parents that doted on her and provided her with everything that money could buy. Unfortunately, when Brandy was 13 years old she developed cancer in her ovaries as well as her uterus. She had to have a hysterectomy and she completely recovered. However, she lost the ability to naturally have children. She was also forced to go on hormone replacement therapy for the rest of her life. This devastated her. Brandy, as a little girl, had always imagined herself growing up and having two or three children and a loving husband. She says that she feels like she was born to be a mother but fate intervened and rendered her unable to do so.

Because of this, Brandy says that she suffered from depression. A cousin of hers, who is her same age, started using drugs when the girls were 15 years old. They had always been very close and Brandy said it was not long before she was using drugs as well. Brandy said initially she did not get addicted to them but would only use them recreationally. Brandy was also very intelligent and excelled at school. When she graduated high school she went to college and majored in radio broadcasting and advertisement. She would continue to party on the weekends but devoted most of her attention to her studies. When she graduated college got a very good job at a local radio station where she made a lot of money.
